#3 Product Review

It seems that every time I turn around there is an advertisement for a new iPhone. It's almost as if you buy the latest iPhone, you turn right around, and its already out of style because they just released another one. I have never paid much attention to the ads or phones because personally I am an android user. However, this past weekend, I got to witness first hand the new iPhone 11 in action, and get a personal review on the product's quality.

Last weekend was my mother's birthday, so I went home to celebrate with my family. We threw the birthday party at my grandmother's house, and as usual, we had to take a hundred pictures (seems the way of all families). It's been a long time since a traditional camera was pulled out for this ritual, and for years we have been using our phones for this. I would not have even noticed mamaw's new phone had my boyfriend, Shak, (who is an Apple enthusiast) exclaimed, "You got the new iPhone 11!

It was then that I noticed the wide, flat phone with the multiple camera lens on the back. Of course, once Shak knew she had that camera, he insisted that the pictures needed to be taken with her phone "for the best quality."I must admit the quality of the photos was commendable. The images were starch, and the phone did a lot of automatic adjusting for the lighting  and things like that.

Being the media analyst that I have now become (thanks to Reppert), I started inquiring how mamaw was liking the latest phone. For the most part, she was satisfied with its overall function. She felt it was not much different from her other iPhone, and the transfer of her photos and contacts was the main reason she went with the new iPhone. She admitted that she wanted to change phone's entirely and go to the latest Android, but because of Apple's connectability with all its products, she stayed with Apple. The transfer of her photos, contacts, texts, and everything in between would be far more difficult to do if she changed networks versus just changing phones.

That is one thing that Apple really has in its favor is the way that all their devices connect and store personal data. That is also the reason that Shak loves his Apple products. He loves having his phone and laptop connect effortlessly and having access to all his files and documents of both devices easily.  This is a great selling point for Apple. They are able to keep customers for a lifetime, but people don't want to deal with the hassle of switching. Apple has made it easy for them to access and keep their personal info. This is a great example of using media, computer intelligence to your advantage for profit.

While she loved that the phone was basically the same in many ways making it easy to use, not everyone shares her appreciation. She liked that she did not have to get use to many new things, but many feel that Apple is just milking their products; that they are not creating new material just using the same bows and whistles but claiming that its an improvement.

"For now, however, the benefits are largely unnoticeable... we truly did not see much of a difference in our day-to-day use." Source

The main point of focus for the latest iPhone is the camera. Many of the other features remain virtually untouched, but the camera was enhanced dramatically. While mamaw had the one with only two lens on the back, there is a second option with three. The camera is very intense. While someone who is more experienced with photography (like Shak) LOVED its features, people like mamaw and I felt overwhelmed by them. There was one point when I was trying to adjust the lighting for a pic so it wouldn't be so yellow, and I felt it was an ordeal! I clicked the option feature and so many things popped up that I couldn't even begin to guess how to adjust. Thankfully there are several auto adjust features that try to help the photography in-adapt like myself,  but when those features fail to produce a photo to your liking, better hope you have a tech-savvy person near by to give you a hand.

Overall, the feeling was satisfactory for the phone. She was not blown away, but she was pleased. That seems to be the common response. Unless you are a photographer, the features are not legendary. The camera is amazing, and those who love to capitalize on that feature will love what the new iPhone 11 has to offer.
